Anthony studied BA (Hons) Architectural Conservation at the University of Derby. The specialist course had strong connections with the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and the region’s professional conservation community.

Conservation architect Derek Latham, founder of the practice now known as Lathams and author of The Creative Re-use of Buildings, was a formative influence on Anthony’s approach to design. Through direct contact, Latham personally reviewed and guided Anthony’s work, sharing a philosophy of sensitively adapting existing buildings while introducing contemporary architecture of genuine merit.

Anthony also contributed to work connected with the Derwent Valley Mills bid for UNESCO World Heritage status. This involved working with buildings on the Buildings at Risk Register and developing proposals for their sensitive reuse—retaining what gave them character, removing poorly considered later additions and introducing new elements of architectural merit.

Today, Anthony brings more than two decades of experience in architectural design and conservation to carefully considered residential architecture and interiors. His work is guided by the same philosophy: understanding each building, respecting its context and creating thoughtful contemporary interventions that give it renewed purpose.
